Porlock Late Night Shopping event on Saturday 10th December starting at 6.00 PM until 9.00 PM. Free parking after 6 PM
Porlock residents and visitors will be treated to a wonderful evening full of entertainment, festive refreshment, and lots of Late Night Christmas Shopping from our unique and individual High Street shops on Saturday 10th December.
The High Street will be transformed into a winter wonderland of light, music and dance from the West Somerset Brass Band and the Morris Dancers, light juggler Sorcha accompanied by wandering minstrels Seb, Ruth and Josh, and the children of St Dubricius School setting the festive scene singing carols at the Church from 6.00pm.
Porlock will be lit up with hundreds of Christmas lights, trees and shop window displays, truly deserving its reputation as the Christmas Capital of Exmoor. Come and see Porlock’s Santa Festival and follow the Santa Trail with life-sized to mini Santas displayed in a variety of fun and festive poses all along the High Street, with shops, businesses, accommodation providers, pubs and restaurants taking part. And don’t forget to visit the Christmas Tree Festival at StDubricius Church, opening for the first time this year at 4pm on Late Night Shopping . A host of imaginatively decorated trees representing local community groups will be on display until 30th December, so have fun trying to guess who decorated each tree.
Dovery Manor Museum will be welcoming visitors with lots of festive food and drink and their fantastic Christmas Hamper Raffle. The Methodist Church will be offering festive refreshments, charity crafts and cake stalls, Gingerbread houses made by Liuba,Children’s craft activities, live traditional music from Boar’s Head, with carol singing at 6.45pm and 7.30pm. The Library will be hosting a face painter, donations only, plus a massive book sale. Also at the Old School Centre, there will be live music by Blythwood, stalls, book signings and much more from the Porlock Visitor Centre.
And, of course, Father Christmas will be visiting Porlock! Look out for his sleigh which will be passing up and down the High Street with the help of his elves,or visit him in his magical Santa’s Grotto at the Olde Chapel. At 7.30pm get ready for the ever popular Santa Dash from Doverhay to the Top Ship -whatever your age or shape, get your Santa suit on and get ready to race along the High Street, or stand back and cheer on the dashing Santas!
There will be lots of other surprises along the High Street, hosted by the shops and businesses, so please come and join us for a wonderful evening of fun and festivity.
